Announcing U.S. Embassy Seoul’s 2013 U.S. Studies Seminar
August 7-9, 2013 (2 nights, 3 days)
To celebrate the 60th anniversary of the U.S.-Korea partnership, the Public Affairs Section of U.S. Embassy Seoul, in collaboration with Keimyung University’s Department of American Studies, will host 40 university students nationwide at its 2013 U.S. Studies Seminar from August 7-9. At this second annual seminar, students will deepen their knowledge of American politics, economy, society, culture and the arts and receive career guidance through discussions led by U.S. diplomats and community leaders. The three-day seminar will be conducted at Daegu’s Keimyung University, which is celebrating the 30th anniversary of its Department of American Studies, the oldest and most comprehensive in the country. Interested students must apply by July 14, 2013, according to the directions below. Regional students are strongly encouraged to apply.
Program content
ü Open dialogue on various topics with U.S. Embassy diplomats
ü Participant presentations on why he/she is interested in the study of U.S.
ü Special lecture and mentoring sessions by Korean and foreign professionals in international fields
Please note:
ü Program costs will be covered by the U.S. Embassy in Seoul
ü The entire program will be conducted in English.
ü Only 40 candidates will be accepted nationwide.
o Eligible applicants are university students who:
§ are interested in the U.S. or are majoring in a related field;
§ can have meaningful discussions in English; and
§ have never lived or studied abroad, or who have studied or lived abroad for less than one year in the past 10 years.
